A Collection of Books and Periodicals relating to Steam Locomotives and Railway History
Description
A collection of hardcover and softcover publications primarily focused on the history and technology of steam locomotives. The assembly includes several titles by noted railway author Colin Garratt, such as 100 Years of Classic Steam (Colour Library Direct), Steam Trains of the World (WHSmith), and The Illustrated Book of Steam and Rail, co-authored with Max Wade-Matthews (Hermes House). Other volumes within the lot include Steam Trains by Bill Hayes (Albany Books), Classic Steam (Tiger Books), Pictorial History of Trains (St Michael), and The Steam Locomotive (Hamlyn). The group also contains multiple issues of Railway Modeller magazine, including the April 2009 edition. The books are generally quarto in size and are bound in publisher’s cloth or pictorial boards, with several examples retaining their original dust jackets. A number of the volumes are housed in protective plastic sleeves. The publications are extensively illustrated with colour and black and white photographs, documenting locomotives and railway systems from around the world.
