A Victorian Style Mahogany Twin Pedestal Desk
Description
A late 19th or early 20th-century mahogany twin pedestal desk. The rectangular top features a moulded edge and is inset with a dark-coloured leather writing surface. The desk is arranged with nine drawers, including a central kneehole drawer flanked by two smaller drawers in the frieze, and three additional drawers to each pedestal. The drawer fronts show a prominent grain and are fitted with brass swan-neck drop handles on rectangular backplates and brass escutcheons. Keyholes are present on all drawers. Each pedestal is supported by shaped bracket feet. Small labels are present on the front edge of the desk, though no manufacturer’s mark is legible.
