A Trio of Art Deco Candy Ware Mottled Drip Glaze Pottery Pieces
Description
A three-piece suite of British Art Deco art pottery manufactured by Candy and Company, also known as Candy Ware, in Devon, England. The set consists of two tall candlesticks and a twin-handled vase. Each candlestick is constructed with a flared bell-shaped base and a slender tapering stem with a central knop leading to a cylindrical socket. The vase features an ovoid body, two small loop handles, and an undulating frilled rim. All pieces are finished in a mottled drip glaze with vertical streaks of teal-green, cobalt blue, and ochre over a light base. The interior of the vase is glazed in solid blue. The base of the vase bears an impressed circular factory mark containing the text CANDY MADE IN ENGLAND WARE. One candlestick base has a hand-written mark 88/02 in black ink, while another base shows a faint, circular impressed mark and pencil marks.
