Lot 146:
A decorative wooden model of a three-masted sailing ship in the style of a 17th-century galleon
Description
A decorative wooden model of a multi-masted sailing ship, styled after a 16th or 17th-century galleon, mounted on a rectangular wooden plinth. The vessel features a painted hull in dark brown and green tones, equipped with three masts and complex twine rigging. The square-rigged sails are composed of two distinct materials; the upper sails are crafted from translucent, curved pieces of horn or bone, while the lower sails are made of a light-coloured fabric. The ship is further detailed with two small flags bearing the St. George’s Cross. A small metal plate is affixed to the wooden base, though the characters are not clearly legible.
Length: approx. 40.5 cm.
