A late 19th-century watercolour on paper by John Dall. The work depicts a figure in profile, shown in a dimly lit domestic interior and engaged in an everyday task. The piece is executed in a tonalist style with a palette of muted earth tones and deep shadows. The work is vertically inscribed and dated along the right-hand edge JOHN DALL 1896.
