Description
This batik painting on fabric depicts two stylised birds perched within flowering branches. The composition utilises a vibrant palette of red, orange, green, and ochre against a dark, multi-toned background. The birds and foliage are rendered with the characteristic wax-resist technique of traditional batik, featuring intricate patterning on the birds’ plumage. A handwritten inscription in the upper right corner reads H. Nabit ’89 Jogya, indicating the work was produced in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, in 1989. The piece is mounted with a cream-coloured mat and is presented in an ornate gilt-finished frame under glass. A small inventory label is affixed to the upper left corner of the glass.
