Lot 79:
An Art Deco Oak Grandmother Clock, circa 1930s
Description
An Art Deco oak grandmother clock, dating to the inter-war period circa 1930s. The dark-stained oak case features a characteristic geometric stepped skyscraper hood above a square silvered dial. The dial is set with black Arabic numerals and includes two winding apertures at the 4 and 8 o’clock positions. The trunk of the clock is decorated with stylised, fluted carvings to the upper shoulders, terminating in a plain rectangular plinth base. The movement is a mechanical two-train type, likely striking on a gong or chime rods. No maker’s name is visible to the dial face.
