Lot 33:
A Victorian Elm and Beech Smoker's Bow Windsor Armchair
Description
A late 19th-century Victorian Smoker’s Bow Windsor armchair, constructed with a broad, curved horseshoe-shaped arm and back rail formed from multiple joined sections. The rail is supported by eight turned spindles and a central pierced and shaped splat. The chair features a thick, contoured solid elm saddle seat with a prominent grain. It is raised on four stout turned legs, likely of beech or ash, using traditional spindle-and-socket joinery. A small white adhesive auction tag marked 9795 is present on the central splat. No other maker’s marks or stamps are visible.
