Lot 267:
A Collection of Die-cast and Plastic Military Model Aircraft
Description
A collection of static model aircraft for display, primarily representing British military planes from the World War II era. The group includes several Supermarine Spitfire fighters in various configurations and liveries, including one featuring black and white invasion stripes and a yellow nose. Other aircraft represented include a Vickers Wellington bomber in green and brown camouflage, a Westland Lysander army cooperation aircraft in camouflage, and a twin-engine aircraft resembling a Bristol Beaufighter with invasion stripes. A small-scale biplane is also included. The models are constructed from die-cast metal and plastic components. Several pieces are mounted on black plastic display stands, two of which are marked in white capital letters with Vickers and Westland Lysander respectively. One Spitfire is mounted on a clear plastic arc-style stand. These items are attributed to the Corgi Aviation Archive series based on the distinctive style of the display stands. The models feature manually rotating propellers and fixed landing gear.
