Description
A collection of modern British philatelic covers and postal stationery issued by the Royal Mail and the British Philatelic Bureau. The assortment includes various envelopes addressed to the Edinburgh-based bureau, including examples with Response Licence No. SC0670. A highlighted item is the commemorative cover for the opening of Tallents House, Edinburgh, which features illustrated panels of philatelic processing. Stamps observed include standard Machin 1st class definitives and various pictorial commemorative issues. The items feature various postal markings, including machine cancellations and postage paid indicators. Many envelopes retain their original Do not bend markings. Tallents House opened in 1993 to centralise Royal Mail philatelic operations.
