A Collection of Blue and White Willow Pattern Style Transferware Plates
Description
A collection of earthenware or semi-porcelain plates decorated in a Chinoiserie style variant of the Willow pattern. The decoration is applied via underglaze blue transfer-printing, featuring traditional motifs of pagodas, bridges, and trees within patterned borders. The group consists of a large charger with a shaped, scalloped rim and plates in two smaller sizes. Traces of gilt edging are visible on some pieces. No manufacturer marks or backstamps are visible on the items. The large charger bears a contemporary inventory sticker numbered 9227.
