Description

A pair of vintage portable reel-to-reel tape recorders of British manufacture, dating from approximately the late 1950s or early 1960s. The first machine is branded Westminster and features a deck layout consistent with BSR manufacture. It is housed in a two-tone portable carrying case with red patterned rexine-covered sides and a textured cream and grey fabric-effect finish to the deck surround. The control panel is constructed from white plastic and includes a three-position sliding function lever for Play, Rewind, and Fast Forward, alongside a toggle switch and two cream-coloured rotary knobs for volume and tone. The machine is fitted with two clear plastic reels, one of which bears a circular EMITAPE brand label. The second item is the internal chassis and deck of a Walter tape recorder, identifiable by the embossed name on the reel hub. It features a metal deck with a grey and green hammertone finish and includes two clear plastic reels with magnetic tape. A rotary control dial is positioned on the right side, marked for fast forward operation. Internal components and wiring are partially exposed.
