A Trio of Art Nouveau Metal-Mounted Iridescent and Frosted Glass Vases
Description
This lot comprises a large Art Nouveau trumpet vase and a pair of smaller posy vases. The central trumpet-shaped vase is fashioned from yellowish-green iridescent glass with a wide, heavily ruffled rim. The glass is mounted into a cast metal base, likely spelter with a bronze-toned finish, decorated with stylised Art Nouveau foliate and floral motifs in relief. The pair of matching posy vases feature pale green satin-finished glass inserts with a moulded textured pattern and ruffled rims. These glass inserts are held within decorative wirework metal stands, each featuring a coiled wire grip and a circular base ornamented with four metal leaves. The iridescent glass is in the style of Bohemian production from the late 19th or early 20th century, such as Loetz or Kralik. No manufacturer marks are visible on either the glass or metal components. A white paper label with the handwritten number 9731 is adhered to the neck of the large vase.
