A Danbury Mint The Trafalgar commemorative mahogany-stained and glass-inset circular side table
Description
A 20th-century circular side table produced by the Danbury Mint, known as The Trafalgar Side Table. The piece is constructed from mahogany-stained hardwood and features a glass-inset circular top. Beneath the glass is a polychrome print depicting a naval engagement at the Battle of Trafalgar, alongside a portrait bust of Admiral Lord Nelson in naval uniform. The perimeter of the illustration is inscribed with Nelson’s famous flag signal: England expects that every man will do his duty. The table is supported by four turned and tapered legs, which are joined by a circular lower shelf. The lower shelf is decorated with a gilt armorial crest featuring the motto Palmam Qui Meruit Ferat (Let him bear the palm who has deserved it) and Tria Juncta In Uno (Three joined in one), the motto of the Order of the Bath.
