Two Items of Ceramic Ware Comprising a Blue and White Transfer-Printed Charger and a Relief-Moulded Squirrel Vase
Description
This lot consists of two earthenware items. The first is a large circular charger or display plate decorated with a blue transfer-printed scene. The image depicts a Dutch coastal landscape featuring a large windmill on a pier, a rigged sailing ship, and a small rowboat with a figure in the foreground, set against a cloudy sky. The second item is a cylindrical relief-moulded vase in the style of late 19th-century majolica. The exterior is textured to resemble tree bark and features a high-relief figure of a squirrel clutching a nut. The flared, irregular rim is adorned with moulded green oak leaves. The interior of the vase has a pale yellow glaze. No factory marks are visible on the front or sides of the items.
