A Trio of Continental Porcelain Items comprising a Pair of EPIAG Vases and a Figural Group
Description
A pair of porcelain twin-handled vases produced by EPIAG, Czechoslovakia. Each vase is decorated with a central transfer-printed reserve depicting a romantic pastoral scene in the 18th-century style, set against vibrant panels of magenta, purple, and teal blue. The body is further embellished with gilt-printed scrolling foliage and floral wreaths. Accompanied by a continental porcelain figural group modelled as a reclining winged putto or cherub holding a pipe, set against a stylised foliate and shell-form base with pale polychrome decoration. The vases bear a green circular mark for EPIAG, Czechoslovakia, with a central crest, alongside incised numbers 1035 and 32 and a hand-painted mark 31. The figural group features an underglaze blue mark of crossed swords with a horizontal crossbar.
