A Collection of British Commemorative and Decorative Ceramics including a Winston Churchill Figurine
Description
A collection of British decorative and commemorative ceramic items, comprising earthenware and fine bone china. The lot includes a large Art Deco-style molded earthenware jug with a stylised wing motif, finished in a uniform light blue glaze with a scalloped rim and a high looping handle. A large circular earthenware display plate features a scalloped lime-green border in relief and a central transfer-printed bouquet of pink and yellow roses. The collection contains several Royal commemorative mugs: a King George VI coronation mug from 1937 inscribed Long May They Reign; a Queen Elizabeth II coronation mug from 1953 featuring the Royal Coat of Arms and Westminster Abbey; and a Silver Jubilee mug from 1977. Additionally, the lot includes a fine bone china teacup and saucer decorated with floral motifs and a heraldic crest, a souvenir porcelain cup and saucer with black transfer prints of London landmarks including The Tower and The White Tower, and a hand-painted ceramic bust of Sir Winston Churchill. The Churchill figure is set upon an orange base bearing the inscription Never in the field of human conflict have so many owed so much to so few – CHURCHILL 1940.
