A Miniature British Afghanistan Medal 1878-1880
Description
A miniature British campaign medal awarded for service during the Second Anglo-Afghan War between 1878 and 1880. The silver medal features the crowned and veiled bust of Queen Victoria on the obverse, surrounded by the legend VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX. The reverse displays a scene of a mountain battery on the march with soldiers and an elephant, inscribed AFGHANISTAN and dated 1878-79-80. The piece is suspended from a ribbon of green with crimson edges. The item is presented in a clear plastic protective sleeve accompanied by a collector tag marked Afghanistan Medal 1878-1880, PX, and 56680.
