A Collection of Hand-Painted Military Miniature Figures Including 18th Century British Infantry and a 16th Century Landsknecht
Description
A collection of hand-painted military miniature figures depicting British and European soldiers from the 16th and 18th centuries. The figures are cast from metal or resin and are mounted on circular black display bases finished with scenic flock and grit. The collection includes figures from the mid-to-late 18th century, representing units from the American War of Independence period. These include an ensign carrying the King’s Colour (pre-1801 Union Flag), an officer with a sword, a Highland soldier in a kilt carrying a yellow regimental flag featuring red roses, and several infantrymen in red coats with various facings and headgear including tricornes and a grenadier cap. One figure represents a 16th-century German Landsknecht in slashed and puffed attire, armed with a halberd. Hand-written inscriptions on the bases include Grenadier (c. 1776) 5th Regt, Landsknecht, and English. One base features a white sticker with the digits 103.
