The edge of the base is incised with the mark A. W. J. G. 2000. The second figure depicts a seated soldier in similar uniform behind a defensive position of rocks and crates. The base features three rectangular plaques inscribed BELMONT, SPION KOP, and KIMBERLEY. An oval mark with the letters PL is present on the base.
