A Collection of Welsh Interest and Humorous Staffordshire Style Ceramic Figurines and Models
Description
A collection of polychrome glazed ceramic figurines and models, primarily depicting traditional Welsh themes and humorous domestic scenes. The lot includes several group figurines featuring figures in traditional Welsh dress, including women in tall black hats and red shawls seated at a table, with one titled Welsh Tea Party in red script. Two figurines depict couples in four-poster beds, with one titled The last in bed to put out the light in black script. The collection also contains a miniature cottage model with a blue roof and applied floral bocage decoration, a yellow-glazed ceramic cottage-form money bank, and various other small-scale group figurines. Visible inscriptions include An anniversary and Three’s a. These pieces are characteristic of the mid-20th century Welsh souvenir trade, manufactured in the style of Victorian Staffordshire pottery. No manufacturer factory marks are visible.
