An Assortment of Vintage and Antique Cameo Jewellery and Unmounted Cameos
Description
This collection comprises a variety of cameo jewellery and loose components. The lot includes several mounted brooches, featuring one large oval example in an ornate gold-tone filigree frame and another set in a silver-tone bar mount. Two stick pins are included, one with a cameo set against a black ground. A significant portion of the collection consists of unmounted, carved shell plaques and plaques in various sizes and shapes. The primary motifs are classical female profiles in the Greco-Roman style, with one oval piece depicting a full-length draped female figure and another smaller piece showing a male profile. Materials include carved shell in carnelian and sardonyx varieties, alongside pieces with dark backgrounds that may be hardstone or moulded glass. The mounts are constructed from gold-tone and silver-tone metals; no hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible on the surfaces.
