A Pair of Irish George IV Sterling Silver Fiddle Pattern Tablespoons by William Cummings
Description
A pair of Irish sterling silver tablespoons in the Fiddle pattern, produced in Dublin by the silversmith William Cummings. Each spoon features a terminal engraved with a heraldic crest depicting an arm in armour holding a quill pen over a tablet, set above a scroll bearing the Latin motto SCRIPTA MANENT. The reverse of the stems is struck with a clear set of Irish hallmarks comprising the maker mark WC for William Cummings, the harp crowned, the figure of Hibernia, a monarch duty mark, and a date letter.
