Description
A collection of volumes primarily comprising the works of Beatrix Potter, alongside reference literature on antiques and collectibles. The grouping includes multiple series of Potter’s tales published by Frederick Warne & Co. and Bloomsbury Books. One series consists of small-format hardcovers with white and blue or green spines, featuring titles such as The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, The Tale of Mr. Tod, The Tale of Two Bad Mice, The Story of Miss Moppet, The Tailor of Gloucester, The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck, Cecily Parsley’s Nursery Rhymes, The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, and numbered volumes including The Tale of Pigling Bland (15), The Tale of Johnny Town-Mouse (13), and The Tale of Little Pig Robinson (19). The name WARNE is visible at the base of several spines in this series. A further series includes modern multi-coloured softcover editions published by Bloomsbury Books in association with Frederick Warne, featuring titles such as The Tale of Benjamin Bunny and The Tale of Peter Rabbit. The collection also features a larger red-bound volume titled The Original Beatrix Potter Collection and a stack of modern dark-green hardcovers. Non-Potter volumes include English Enamel Boxes by Susan Benjamin (Orbis) and The Price Guide to Metal Toys by Gordon Gardiner and Alistair Morris (Antique Collectors’ Club), the latter bearing a white adhesive label with the handwritten number 6182. The books are bound in a variety of publisher’s cloth, paper-covered boards, and softcovers, with many of the modern hardcovers retaining their dust jackets.
