Description
A collection of children’s illustrated literature and small-format volumes. The group primarily consists of mid-to-late 20th-century trade editions. Notable inclusions are several titles from Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies series published by Blackie, specifically Flower Fairies of the Spring, Flower Fairies of the Summer, Flower Fairies of the Autumn, and Flower Fairies of the Winter. The collection also features multiple works from Jill Barklem’s Brambly Hedge series published by Collins, including Winter Story, Autumn Story, The Secret Staircase, Poppy’s Babies, and The High Hills. Beatrix Potter is represented by editions of The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin published by Bloomsbury Books/Warne. Other works include Enid Blyton’s The Rilloby Fair Mystery (Collins), Kenneth Grahame’s The Reluctant Dragon (Mammoth), and Alison Uttley’s Little Grey Rabbit Goes to the Sea and Little Grey Rabbit Makes Lace. The volumes are bound in a mix of hardcover pictorial boards, publisher’s cloth, and softcover wrappers. Most items are in small-format sizes, approximately sextodecimo or small octavo. One orange-spined volume bears a Classic Pooh label.
