A 19th Century Oval Portrait Miniature of a Lady in a Tortoiseshell Frame
Description
This oval portrait miniature depicts a woman in 18th century style attire, featuring powdered hair, blue eyes, and a white garment. The work is executed in watercolour or gouache. The painting is housed under glass within a thin, brass toned metal inner bezel, which is set into a larger oval frame of mottled tortoiseshell. A small metal suspension loop is attached to the top. No signature, date, or inscriptions are visible on the face of the work.
