Lot 223:
A Collection of Blue and White Willow Pattern and Mid-Century Stylised Floral Ceramic Wares
Description
An assortment of ceramic tea and tablewares comprising two distinct decorative groups. The first group consists of glazed earthenware decorated in the traditional blue and white Willow pattern transfer print, a chinoiserie design resembling the Real Old Willow pattern. This group includes four lidded storage jars, comprising two larger faceted octagonal jars and two smaller squat jars, two dinner plates, a selection of teacups and saucers, and a pair of low candlesticks. The second group comprises glazed earthenware featuring a stylised repeating botanical motif in olive-yellow and green tones against an off-white ground. This set includes four stacking mugs, one cream jug, one small lidded pot with a notched lid, and one larger lidded teapot or coffee pot. The floral design is in the style of mid-century British manufacturers such as Hornsea or Woods. No maker marks or factory stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces or bases.
