Description
A novelty side table or stool designed in a trompe l’oeil style as a staggered stack of oversized leather-bound books, attributed to Maitland-Smith. The piece is constructed from painted wood or composite material with a leather-effect finish. The books are decorated in shades of red, green, and dark blue, featuring gilt-effect decorative scrollwork and banding on the spines. The edges are finished with linear detailing to represent the pages of the books. A small white rectangular sticker bearing the handwritten numerals 9703 is present on the side of the top red book.
