A Vintage Chinese Faux Ivory Style Carved Resin Opium Table
Description
A mid-to-late 20th century side table in the style of a Chinese opium table, constructed from cast resin with an off-white finish designed to simulate carved ivory. The circular top features a recessed glass pane over a high-relief moulded scene depicting a classical horse-drawn chariot with figures in a landscape. The outer rim is decorated with a repeating guilloche pattern. The central pedestal is composed of three back-to-back draped female caryatid figures. This column rests on a heavily ornate base depicting a multi-headed mythical beast or dragon-like creature. No maker marks or signatures are present. A rectangular paper lot sticker is affixed to the side of the tabletop with the handwritten number 9631.
