A Pair of Chinese Famille Rose Celadon Ground Porcelain Plates, Late 19th Century
Description
A pair of graduated Chinese porcelain plates featuring a pale celadon-green glaze. The decoration is executed in the famille rose palette, depicting long-tailed birds perched on flowering and fruiting branches, including pomegranates, surrounded by various butterflies and floral sprays. The rims are finished with a thin band of gilding. These items are characteristic of Chinese export wares produced in the Canton region during the late Qing dynasty. No marks are visible on the obverse surfaces; the undersides have not been inspected.

Smaller dish: 15.5 cm diameter.
