A 20th century George III style mahogany lift-top chest
Description
A small mahogany chest of drawers in the George III taste, constructed in the 20th century. The piece is designed as a bachelor’s chest with a four-drawer appearance. The top features a blind-fret carved border and is hinged, lifting to reveal a shallow internal storage compartment. The uppermost drawer front is fixed and integrated into the lift-lid assembly. Below the compartment are three functional full-width drawers. The chest is fitted with decorative brass ring pulls on circular, pierced backplates. The structure is raised on four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. Primary timber is mahogany; secondary timbers are not fully visible but appear to be of 20th-century manufacture. Internal drawer joinery is not visible.
