Lot 402:
A Collection of Vintage Lace-making and Sewing Accoutrements, including Wooden Bobbins and Decorative Tins, Early to Mid-20th Century
Description
This assembly of textile craft equipment and vintage storage containers comprises a significant quantity of turned wooden lace-making bobbins, alongside various spools and cards of colourful thread. The collection includes two decorative metal tins; the first is a rectangular example featuring a heavily weathered floral design on a dark green ground, attributed to Industria Ligure Lombarda SRL, while the second is a cream-finished tin showing visible surface oxidation. A clear plastic organiser tray contains a portion of the bobbins and a thread spool marked Coats Y841. The lot is accompanied by various textile remnants and modern inventory labels including 6182 and 6189/2022. These items represent the traditional tools of the lace-making trade, a significant domestic industry throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
