Lot 401:
Jones Portable Electric Sewing Machine in Two-Tone Enamel, circa 1960
Description
A mid-century portable electric sewing machine manufactured by Jones. The machine features a robust metal body finished in a period-correct pale green and blue colour palette. The arm is adorned with stylised silver Jones branding and a small adhesive inventory label numbered 501. Functional elements include a blue plastic handwheel, chrome-finished adjustment levers, and a stitch selection dial with settings for Normal, Silk, and Finish. A circular gold-toned emblem is situated near the needle plate. The unit is housed within its original teal-coloured hard plastic base and is accompanied by a separate foot pedal and a small box of needles. Jones was a significant British manufacturer, and this model exemplifies the transition to streamlined, portable domestic appliances during the post-war era.
