A Collection of Decorative Ceramics and Porcelain including an Alcobaça Pitcher and Delft-Style Ginger Jar
Description
This varied collection of decorative arts features a prominent hand-painted Alcobaça ceramic pitcher of Portuguese origin, designed in the ‘Gomil’ style with a mottled blue glaze and relief-moulded shell motifs. Accompanying this is a large Delft-style lidded ginger jar decorated with traditional cobalt blue floral patterns on a white glazed ground. The lot further includes a wide, flattened ceramic vessel featuring vibrant folk-art-inspired geometric and scroll motifs in red, green, and gold tones. Complementing the larger pieces is an assortment of miniature porcelain, including lidded trinket boxes and dishes with floral sprays and gilt-edged rims, a small Satsuma-style vase with figural decoration, a green floral-patterned creamer, a ceramic house figurine, a pink and green lotus-form candle holder, and a silver-toned elephant figurine. Largest vessel measures approximately 45 cm in height.
