A Mid-20th Century Tuscan Fine English Bone China Tea Service
Description
A partial tea service manufactured by Tuscan (R. H. & S. L. Plant Ltd) of Longton, Staffordshire, dating to the mid-20th century. The set is crafted from fine English bone china and features a delicate pale pink ground. Each piece is decorated with central and peripheral floral rose sprays, framed by intricate gilded filigree borders and finished with gold-trimmed scalloped rims. The service comprises four teacups with gilded handles and foot rings, four saucers, four side plates, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, and a square cake plate with integral handles. The underside of the pieces bears the green printed maker’s mark: TUSCAN FINE ENGLISH BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND, beneath a winged crown insignia. This pattern reflects the elegant traditional aesthetic popular in England during the post-war period. Square cake plate measures approximately 23cm across.
