Gold-tone and Silver-tone Mixed Costume Jewellery Collection, featuring Shell Cameos and Madison & Co. Accessories
Description
A diverse and extensive collection of vintage and contemporary costume jewellery and small decorative objects. The lot features a variety of necklaces, including heavy yellow gold-tone flat-link chains, multi-strand beaded necklaces, and several strings of imitation pearls. A notable selection of brooches is included, featuring carved shell cameos, mother-of-pearl floral motifs, and various enamelled and figurative designs. The collection further comprises an array of bracelets, rings, and earrings, with some items retained on original retail cards by Madison & Co. or within presentation boxes. Metals appear predominantly as yellow gold-tone and silver-tone base metals with plating; however, some pieces may test as precious metals upon individual inspection. Decorative elements include faceted glass and synthetic stones in a wide spectrum of colours, alongside resin and enamel work. Also present are a silver-toned thimble and a decorative handled letter opener. Various hallmarks and maker’s marks are present across the collection. Tray measures approximately 40cm by 30cm.
Condition report:
The collection is offered in mixed condition, typical of a bulk estate lot. Visible signs of wear include surface scratches, tarnishing to metal finishes, and some tangling of chains. Some stones may be loose or missing. Clasps and fastenings have not been individually tested for functionality. Sold as seen.
