Description

This extensive collection comprises approximately 75–85 thimbles, featuring a notable selection of enamel craftsmanship. The lot includes several Chinese cloisonné examples, characterised by the use of fine wire cells to create intricate floral and geometric patterns in vibrant turquoise, cobalt blue, and red. Complementing these are champlevé pieces, where enamel has been applied into recessed channels carved into the metal base. The base metals include brass, copper, and various silver-tone alloys. These items primarily date from the mid-20th century, representing both European souvenir production and Asian decorative arts. The quality of the enamel work is detailed, particularly on the botanical motifs. The collection is partially housed in a wooden display case with a glass front; please note the red display tray is not included. Case dimensions: 28 cm x 14 cm x 4 cm. Individual thimbles approximately 2 cm to 2.5 cm in height.

Condition report:

The enamel work is in good vintage condition, though some cloisonné pieces show minor pitting and small losses to the enamel consistent with age. The metal components exhibit light surface oxidation, tarnish, and minor use-related denting. No major chips or cracks are visible on the ceramic elements within the broader collection.
