Kewpie, Table Lamp, Rose O'Neill Style
Description
A vintage table lamp featuring a Kewpie figure base, designed in the style of Rose O’Neill. The base is constructed from painted metal, likely spelter or white metal, and is marked to the reverse with KEWPIE and design patent number DES PAT 88609. The lamp is fitted with a frosted and etched glass tulip-shaped shade, decorated with floral and foliate motifs and a ruffled rim. The item has been rewired with a modern white plastic cord and a standard UK three-pin plug. Height approximately 31 cm.
Condition report:
The lamp has been rewired with a modern cord and plug, however, it is sold as-is for decorative purposes and must be PAT tested by a qualified electrician prior to use. The frosted glass shade is in generally good condition with no apparent major chips or cracks, though it exhibits some interior surface grime. The painted metal base shows significant signs of age and wear, including prominent paint loss, chipping to the figure\'s torso and limbs, and accumulated surface dirt.
