Description
Unattributed French School, gilt spelter (régule), Renaissance-style troubadour or court page, sand-cast with applied gilt finish, no visible signature or foundry marks, likely part of a clock garniture set, integral Rococo Revival four-footed base with scrollwork and a central enamelled heraldic cartouche.
Condition report:
The original gilt finish shows moderate surface wear and rubbing to the highlights, with some oxidation in the recessed areas consistent with age. The figure is missing its original attributes from the raised hands, likely a musical instrument or staff. The enamelled emblem on the base is intact and the structural condition of the spelter is sound with no visible cracks or repairs.
