Lot 253:
Miscellaneous, Large Collection of Ceramic and Porcelain Figurines including Piano Babies and Animals
Description
A large and diverse collection of approximately 45 decorative ceramic and porcelain figurines and miniature objects. The lot features several bisque piano baby style figures in various poses and children in traditional dress, including two figures holding functional glass sand timers. The animal subjects are extensive, notably featuring a large naturalistic pig, several whimsical pink pigs including one inscribed Stick to water which may be a Boston Baked Beans match holder, various dog breeds including a Scottish Terrier and spaniels, cats, cows, and a small deer. Miscellaneous items include a small brown glazed teapot with a yellow bird finial, miniature planters, a floral cluster, and a small white boot. The collection comprises a mix of high-gloss glazed porcelain, matte bisque, and cold-painted finishes. While specific factory marks are not visible, the pieces are characteristic of mid-20th-century decorative imports, with some in the style of Goebel or Heubach. Height: 2.5 cm to 18 cm.
Condition report:
Items are in varied condition consistent with a bulk estate lot. Most pieces appear visually intact; however, bidders should expect minor surface wear, accumulated dust, and occasional small flea bite chips. The purple floral cluster exhibits minor petal loss. The sitting white dog to the centre right appears to have a potential repair or chip near the base. Professional cleaning is recommended for the bisque pieces.
