The spines are elaborately decorated with gilt scrollwork, titled Eliot / Romola, and include volume numbers. The books feature red-stained edges and original red silk ribbon markers. Small octavo. There is a small vintage price sticker or label on the upper board of Volume I. 6.25 x 4.25 inches.

Condition report:

Book: Good. The vellum-style boards show visible surface soiling and minor staining consistent with age and handling. Internally, light foxing is present, primarily concentrated near the page margins and on the preliminary leaves. The bindings remain firm and secure with no detachment. The gilt decoration on the spines and boards remains largely bright, though there is minor rubbing to the extremities. The red-stained edges are slightly faded but intact.
