Description

A large Moroccan tin-glazed earthenware vessel, known as a Jobbannah, likely originating from the Fes region. This two-part ceramic item comprises a bulbous footed base and a matching domed lid surmounted by a disc-form finial. The exterior is decorated with traditional hand-painted cobalt blue motifs on a creamy white ground, featuring intricate geometric interlaced patterns, eight-pointed stars, and dotted circles characteristic of Moorish design. The underside of the base bears a hand-painted blue mark or signature. This style of pottery is a celebrated example of North African ceramic tradition, often used for serving soup or storing butter. Height: approximately 41 cm.

Condition report:

The piece is in good overall condition, displaying typical signs of age and functional use. There is minor pitting to the glaze and some surface discolouration. Small chips are present on the unglazed foot and the interior rim of the lid. No major cracks or professional repairs are evident.
