Silver-Gilt Baby Rattle Teething Ring, Guardsman Charm, Ciro
Description
This vintage silver-gilt baby’s rattle and teething ring features a figural charm in the form of a British guardsman in full uniform. The hollow-cast charm, which appears to be silver with a gold-toned wash, is suspended from a large, matte yellow ring composed of a synthetic material, likely celluloid. The figure displays detailed casting to the uniform and bearskin hat. The reverse of the figure’s torso bears several stamped inscriptions, including an ornate script mark for Ciro, followed by REGD PRODUCT No 785041 and MADE IN ENGLAND. This item represents a classic mid-20th-century nursery accessory from the prestigious British jewellery house Ciro. Weight and measurements: Not provided.
Condition report:
The piece exhibits surface wear and patination consistent with age and use. There is visible thinning to the gold-toned finish on the metal charm, particularly on raised surfaces and recessed areas.
