Royal Crown Derby Traditional Imari Pattern 2451 Porcelain Demitasse Cup and Saucer Set
Description
A fine bone china demitasse cup and saucer set manufactured by Royal Crown Derby, England. The set is decorated in the celebrated Traditional Imari palette, specifically pattern number 2451. The design features rich cobalt blue underglaze, overglaze iron red enamels, and profuse hand-applied gold gilding arranged in intricate floral and geometric panels. The cup is designed with a fully gilded loop handle and a tapered body. Both pieces bear the red Royal Crown Derby printed backstamp on the underside, including the crown and cypher, the word England, and the hand-painted pattern number 2451. Saucer diameter approximately 12 cm. Cup height approximately 6 cm.
Condition report:
The set is in good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations evident. There is very minor surface wear to the gilding on the high points, consistent with age and light use.
