A Pair of Royal Doulton Character Jugs, Sairey Gamp and Scaramouche
Description
A pair of figural ceramic character jugs modeled in glazed and hand-painted earthenware by Royal Doulton. The collection includes two distinct characters: Sairey Gamp and Scaramouche. The jug depicting Sairey Gamp, based on the character from Charles Dickens’ novel Martin Chuzzlewit, features a smiling elderly woman wearing a purple hood and green attire. This jug bears handwritten inventory markings 624 / 6092 on the side and an obscured Royal Doulton mark on the base. The second jug depicts Scaramouche (model D6814), dressed in period costume and holding a flagon. The base of the Scaramouche jug is clearly marked Royal Doulton, dated 1993, and names the modeler as H.S. Davies.
