A Collection of Grande Porcelain of Copenhagen and Other Danish Blue and White Christmas Plates
Description
A collection of Danish blue and white porcelain commemorative plates, primarily from the Grande Porcelain of Copenhagen Julen series. The group also includes examples by Georg Jensen and Bing and Grondahl. The designs feature various holiday and winter themes, including snowy landscapes, architectural landmarks, and a commemorative piece for the Olympic Games inscribed LES JEUX OLYMPIQUES. Several plates are marked on the front with JULEN or JUL alongside dates from the early 1970s. The reverses feature printed factory marks, including HANDMALET, individual plate numbers, and titles in Danish such as Den lille Pige med Svovlstikkerne i Nyhavn. The items are constructed of glazed porcelain with underglaze blue decoration.
