George III Style Mahogany Secretary Bureau Bookcase
Description
A single, two-part bureau bookcase constructed of veneered mahogany or similar hardwood, executed in the George III or Neoclassical style. The upper section features a glazed cabinet with two hinged doors, the glass panes divided by thin wooden muntins forming a geometric pattern of octagonal and rectilinear shapes. The interior contains adjustable shelving. The lower bureau section incorporates a slant fall-front desk lid, prominently veneered with a V-matched or herringbone grain pattern. Below the writing slope are four drawers arranged in two vertical columns, fitted with brass bail or teardrop pull handles.
