A Collection of 23 Antique and Vintage Sewing Notions and Victorian Trade Cards
Description
A collection of 23 discrete antique and vintage sewing notions, haberdashery items, and ephemera, contained within a reddish-brown molded plastic or Bakelite tray. The lot includes three heavily worn color lithograph postcards identified through research as Victorian trade cards. Haberdashery items comprise two pincushions (one red felt tomato style, one patterned fabric), five small rectangular packets (likely needle cases, some with red and black felt covers), and two partial cards of ‘RUSTLESS’ buttons or snaps. Tools and accessories include two metal sewing implements (tweezers and a longer flat tool), a spool of brown thread, a miniature red-bound book, and a dark blue/black egg-shaped object, possibly a darning egg. The lot also features a fan-shaped display of dark metal bobby pins affixed to a cardboard backing, a small round burgundy cardboard thread box, and an enameled landscape brooch. Completing the contents are numerous bundles of white lace, cross-stitch tape, woven ribbons (including tartan patterns), and green fabric scraps. The container bears a white label on the front edge marked “6182” and a handwritten label inside stating, “May Not in Sale Please Leave in Room.”
