Lot 350:
A Collection of English EPNS Silver Plate Fish Knives and Forks, 19th Century
Description
A collection of English EPNS (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) fish knives and forks, dating to the 19th century. The lot comprises three open wooden presentation cases. The first case, lined with red velvet-like fabric, contains a large serving knife with an ornate, etched blade and a matching four-tine fork. The second, a darker wooden case with a purple velvet lining, holds six four-tine forks with silver-toned ferrules. A drawer within this case reveals six matching knives with silver-toned blades. The third, simpler wooden box features a yellow/cream fabric lining, holding multiple knives and forks. All cutlery pieces feature cream-colored handles, likely celluloid or a similar early plastic material, consistent with the period.
