A WW1 British Magnapole Brass Compass and Sundial
Description
A WW1 British Magnapole brass compass and sundial. Constructed from patinated brass, this portable instrument features a round casing with a hinged lid. A braided white cord is attached via a brass ring. The compass dial is black with white cardinal and intercardinal directional markings (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW). The interior of the lid is yellow-gold colored, marked with hour indications (3, 6, 9, 12), and houses a collapsible gnomon for sundial functionality. The top of the lid is inscribed with ‘THE ORIGINAL’, ‘PATENT’, ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’, and ‘SERIE N 67’.
